Our production process.

CONCEPT & SCRIPT

The first step of the process is developing the general concept and script of the animation. Once you have chosen the style of animation you wish to go ahead with we plan a ‘Magic Meeting’. During this meeting you tell us everything about your service, product or idea and we translate that concept onto the screen. Together we develop a concrete script with voice-over lines. Of course all this is based on your needs, preferences and budget. Furthermore, this meeting will end when we have created a portrayal of the first shots of the animation in the form of a story board.

STORYBOARD & VISUAL DESIGN

During this step of the process we flesh out the first sketches of the storyboard and the complementary lines. Everything will be transformed into definitive designs and text for the characters, symbols or icons. Using a what is essentially a comic, though we call it a ‘Visual Design’, we present our work to you. In this Visual Design we portray every shot with its lines and an explanation of the visual. This ensures that you know exactly what the animation will end up looking like, allowing you to give feedback. With your consent, we start the actual production process.

PRODUCTION

Now your animation will come to life! A couple of days after your approval of the ‘Visual Design’ we will send you a first version of the animation. This version will already be enhanced with the voice actor’s lines but not yet with sound effects. After we have received your feedback we will produce a definitive version. Naturally, this version will include exiting sound effects. With your blessing on that version we will proceed to rounding off production.

DISTRIBUTION

Once we have developed your animation you will no longer have to repeatedly explain your product, idea or service. We have provided you with a clear and powerful way of doing so! But do you know how you will use your animation? Do you only reach your own network or can you now get your message to prospective clients? In the last step of the production period we will help you with this! With our Video Marketing package we distribute your animation across the internet. We not only use familiar and proven techniques (SEO/SEA) but also less widespread methods (Magic) in order to promote your brand awareness and turn-over.

Why create an business animation?

Excellent question. Though the question is really what the reason would be to want to communicate visually. The answer is easier than expected. Our brains are wired to process and remember audiovisual information a lot better than messages communicated through text. In other words, you message is understood and remembered better when it is conveyed through an animation or video.

What is the ideal length of an business animation?

In essence, this depends on where you want to place the video. Do you want o distribute it through YouTube or to be shown during a corporate presentation? YouTube adds are mostly of shorter duration than an explainimation used to explain a process.

Ideal length of YouTube videos:

Bumper adds: 6 seconds
TrueView adds: 15 seconds

Our general advice to our clients is to not choose for an animation longer than 75 seconds. The most important factor is to capture and keep the attention of the viewer for the first 10 seconds. This determines whether the viewer will finish watching.

Which documents do I need to provide?

In order to effectively produce your animation we need a couple of things:

Your organisation’s style guide (in case it is available)
Colour codes
Design work from previous assignments
Logos in vector based or illustrator files

What is an business animation’s average production time?

The production time needed to produce an animation varies. We usually maintain the following production periods:

Infographic: 4 to 6 days
Pre-designed: 5 days
Customized: 10 days

Do you need your animation sooner? No problem! Our efficient production process allows us to deliver the animation quicker. However, the client must be willing to act quickly as well. Of course, this requires very structured scheduling of the production period.

How much does producing an animation cost?

In essence, the answer to the question is that it depends. Namely on the following factors:

Who produces the animation? Large and popular animation studios have a tendency to charge higher prices than smaller studios. An underlying reason being that these organisations offer higher quality products.
What type of animation do you want to have developed? The length of an animation can vary from a bumper animation lasting 6 seconds or one that explains your idea, product or service lasting around 75 seconds. Naturally, shorter animations cost less than longer ones.
Would you like characters in your animation? Adding characters costs a lot of time, and time is money. On the other hand this allows you to more easily convey humour and emotion. This may make the extra cost worth it.
